Support School Success and Equity! Volunteer Opportunities:
SSTC is a coalition of volunteers and transportation, educational or other professionals who share information and promote solutions to our local school- related transportation challenges. We invite you to join us, contribute and build on our successes, in whatever way works for you!
Join us as a Coalition Member
We welcome you to contribute your interest, advocacy, expertise & creative problem-solving as a Committee Member of SSTC. Members attend monthly meetings and take on additional tasks per your time & interest. We have ongoing needs in marketing, networking, and grant writing. Become a Volunteer Driver Dispatcher During the ICSD school year, Volunteer Dispatchers open email to the [email protected] account on a daily basis to know if a ride is being requested. If so, they contact RED volunteer drivers to see if anyone can provide the ride. There can be months with no requests, or a dozen requests in a month. Volunteer Dispatchers need access to the internet and to fill out an application. Then they are ready to help out. Dispatch volunteers will meet with Carrie Kerr to discuss availability and agree on a collaborative schedule for dispatch duties. |
Sign up as a Volunteer Driver & Give a Ride If/when You Can!
Research shows that involved parents mean more successful students. Red School Rides Volunteer Drivers have the opportunity to directly impact a students’ success and future, by helping parents be more involved in their child's education. Volunteers commit to considering ride requests, and choose which ride(s) to provide. Even one ride a year can be a huge help! Each ride the volunteer's choice! An individual can offer us a certain number of rides, or only some days of the week, or only in spring and fall, and we will only call them about rides that meet their conditions. Plus, volunteers can always say, “Not today.” When a student’s parent or caregiver has no way to get to their child’s school meeting or activity, the Red School Rides Dispatcher will contact eligible Volunteer Drivers with a ride request. Each Volunteer Driver contacted decides if they are available, and if so, provides a ride to the parent or caregiver to and/or from the school. Volunteer Drivers need to fill out an application, have a relatively clean license and access to a car. Then they are ready to help out. |
